Happy Solstice!

Happy Solstice everyone! I love how days like the solstices  and equinoxes serve as markers to remind people of the cycles of nature, even (especially) those of us who perhaps lose sight of that in our everyday lives. I hope you take time today to celebrate this longest day of the year in some way and reflect on how nature’s larger cycles reflect our own cycles of growth.

It’s also international yoga day apparently. While I admit I can be a bit cynical about how social media has made every day into a #holiday. I am definitely on a yoga kick right now and have rediscovered “Yoga with Adriene” to keep my practice going since my hot yoga trial ended. I can’t recommend her videos enough if you’re looking for a free yoga practice.

Here’s my contribution to Yoga with Adriene and Adidas’ Tree for Tree campaign (you post a picture of your tree pose, tag them and they plant a tree!)

I wanted to mention it here a) to boost the campaign (go post yours! yes to more trees!) and b) as a reminder of the unglamorous reality of most at home exercise practices (yes to self care no matter how unflattering it may look!). As a bonus, the bad lighting in my bedroom makes it look like I’m holding the sun, which is fitting on this day of sun celebration (and Fiona is adorable as always).

As a summer baby I love the warm weather, and see the summer as a time of opportunity: more energy, longer days, more free time(seemingly). How can summer help fuel your own personal goals? And how are you celebrating the solstice and/or international yoga day (for my fellow yogis)?
